Spanish Fork Canyon

Description

Located just south-east of the city of Spanish Fork, Spanish Fork Canyon is home to a smattering of minor ice climbs and widely-scattered rock climbs on sandstone and conglomerate.

Most of the ice routes in this canyon are short. The ice here tends to come and go throughout the season.

Getting There

US Highway 6 follows Spanish Fork Canyon south over Soldier Summit (7,477 ft./2,279m) and then back down through Price Canyon (65 miles from SF to Price). This is a scenic drive full of wildlife with the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest on the north side of the canyon and the Manti-La Sal National Forest on the South side.

Drive south on I-15, take the Price/Manti exit 258, and follow US-6 into Spanish Fork Canyon.

From Price, follow US-6 north, through Price Canyon, over Soldier Summit and into Spanish Fork Canyon.

Diamond Fork Canyon - Current Conditions
Dispersed (undeveloped) camping is not allowed from the intersection with Spanish Fork Canyon (Highway 6), continuing 12 miles to an area known as Tanner Ridge. This restriction is to allow for rehabilitation of the areas disturbed by the construction of the Diamond Fork System.
