This is an absolutely beautiful line on a very unique piece of stone. if your hands aren't gorilla sized, this is either a boxing match or a swimming exercise.

Does anyone know when whatever used to be in front of this crack fell off? It looks like a recent collapse.

Yep, it was within the last few years. The block that fell off was where Life and Rite to Life used to be.

In Oct 06' I pulled the anchor (4"x1/2" rawl, hanger stamped "Comp Wall") out by hand. No tools, I just plucked the bolts out with my fingers. The new FA had drilled very poorly on softer than average rock. I left a cam up there to rap off until March 07', when I got back there were a lot of notes saying you'll die if you climb this route. I put in a 2 bolt anchor with a little glue. Because of the softness, I don't know how long the anchor will hold up. At least the holes are drilled downward, not upward.

It's a good reminder to pay attention when hand-drilling so you don't mess up. It's also a good reminder to check bolts, even good ones. I would have died had I rapped off that anchor.
