Description

One of the best boulding places in Durango! Includes well-traveled trails for easy access and navigation, a big warm-up boulder near the beginning, and lots and lots of rock.

This area is also used for hiking, horse-back rididng and other recreational uses.

Not sure of the camping policy here or if there is one.

Getting There

To get there head south on Main or US 550, take a left at the light on West 25th, travel about a mile and you will see a dirt parking area on the right, hard to miss. Continue up the main trail until you are forced a hard right. Instead of following the main wood-chip road that leads right follow the dirt path in front of you until you reach a flat part of the hill. Here you will see a path continuing straight and one that goes right up the hill, head up the hill.

Sailinghawks is not illegal anymore. It is now part of Durango's open space. The city purchased the land recently I think it was the fall of 2007.

My vote is if we are really going to start loading Sailing Hawks on the web we need to do it the justice it deserves. What I am tryng to say is lest organize it in a easy manner to use like list all the boulders then list the problems under the boulders. Right now it is a jumbled mess that needs to be fixed beore it gets out of control. Also we should agree that stuff should only be loaded up if it is correct inormation. Any thought?
