The sample pages look fantastic.

Yeah, it does look good. What about the binding? Are we talking quality like Rossiter's BoCan Falcon Guide, or falls-apart-the-first-time Rolofson BoCan guide? Both of my Rolofson guides had pages fall out from crappy binding the first time I opened them up at the crags.

Who's the author of the new guide?

Ditto on the Rolofson guide. It was a nice addition the outdated Rossiter guide, but possibly the worst set of guidebooks ever - no index, routes listed out of order, and pages fell out before you could leave the store.

The new one is from Boulder local Bob D'Antonio, who put up an awful lot of the routes in the book.

The book will be flexibound, with pages sewn as well as glued. This is the same binding as Wolverine Publishing's Red River Gorge and Bishop Bouldering books. Both have proved very durable. We haven't had any problems with pages falling out.

On page 3 of the teaser pages it says that the route Shape Shifters 5.9- on the Zen Garden Wall has 10 BOLTS! NOT! The description says 2, which is correct. Otherwise things are looking nice. The early buy discount is weird, one would imagine it will impact the Front Range shops that are going to sell it.

The author did remove his content, to the extent that it was not something anyone else had put comments on that would lose context without the original post. The rest of his content was re-assigned to another user.
There ain't no love lost between me and Bob... but if I owned the site I'd view it this way:
Without regards to the author's history here, the site users might still want to know that there is a new book coming out and might want the discount.

Yes, that's right Bob did request that a lot of his content be removed. However, he had contributed much to this site while he was actively posting, and we might as well promote the book as it will be a benefit to everyone including the site.

Best to look forward and not back. In that regard, I wish Bob a lot of success with his latest guidebook and hopefully one of these days he pops up back up on the site.

The book was a little later being delivered than anticipated. Apologies to those who pre-ordered. The good news is the Boulder Canyon book is due into our warehouse tomorrow. Customer orders will ship tomorrow and Wednesday. Copies should be in the climbing stores by the weekend.

The binding is the best out there for guide books. It is like the binding you would find on a hardcover book but with a soft cover on it. There is no way to really break the spine and cause pages to fall out without tearing them.
